Patriot boys take third at District The St. John Bosco Patriots were a point
away from making it to State for the first time since 2016 as they had
to settle for third at District.
On Tuesday, Feb. 21, they lost to
Kendrick 55-69 at Lapwai, dropping them into the loser’s bracket. In a
game rescheduled from Wednesday due to a storm that closed some schools
in the area, they beat Deary for the first time this season 59-49 on
Thursday, Feb. 23 at Lapwai to advance to the second place game.
Finally on Friday, Feb. 24 they overcame a 10 point deficit with 2:20
to play to force overtime only to lose to Timberline 54-64. The
Spartans advanced to State for the fourth straight year. . . .

Business Professionals of America students qualified for Nationals at
the State competition this past weekend. Qualifying were: First place
Administrative Support Team-Amelia Uhlenkott, Julia Rehder, Tara

Henry Lustig, right, was the overall winner in the Prairie Spelling Bee. Matthew Jones, left, was runner-up.
On Wednesday, February 15th, the 3rd-8th grade qualifying Prairie Pirates
participated in the district spelling bee at Prairie Elementary School.
They all did well. The winner for Prairie, advancing to regionals in
Lewiston in March was Henry Lustig (8th grade). Runner up was Matthew
Jones (7th grade). The other participants were Lillia Kaschmitter,
Landon Jones, Derek Goeckner, Winnie Secrest, Koyle Jones, Zane Duclos,
Isaac Riener, Michael Forsmann, Nathan Weber, and Erica Schlader.

The Tri-Parish
8th grade girls team took third place out of a pool of 10 teams at the
Hallissey Tournament in Boise this past weekend. Their only loss was
the St. Ignatius team that won the championship, a team they had beaten

Due to the
popularity of the Barn Quilt making workshop held February 18, a
repeatworkshop is being offered by The Friends of the Kooskia Community
Libraryon Friday March 10, 10am-3pm, at the Kooskia
Community Center. Cost is $10 which coversall materials to make and
take home a 16x16 inch barn quilt. Quilt block plans will beavailable,
or bring your own design. Bring a potluck lunch dish and your own
beverages for the day. Plates and utensils willbe provided.
