Cottonwood City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council held their
regular March meeting Monday, March 13 and set the dates for the annual
Cottonwood Community Cleanup. Those dates will be April 1 through June 30. During this time a special rolloff will be set up near the city shop to be used for yard waste and tree and brush clippings. Resolution 2023-02 – Fair Housing Month Proclamation was adopted by the Council. This is one of those checklist items needed for a grant sought for the City Park project. The council also voted to approve a Division of Environmental Quality water grant subaward and authorize Mayor Keith Holcomb to sign for it. The council also voted to approve sending a Will Serve Letter to St. John Bosco Academy regarding water and sewer service and authorize the mayor to sign that. In regard to some questions water commissioner Debby O’Neill had, city attorney Joe Wright said this just says the city will go forward with providing water and sewer service. Parameters are still subject to negotiation. In other business Roger and January Trombetta appeared concerning their property at 1401 King St. and a building they are adding. The Trombetta’s have ordered a survey to be done as there is some question on where their actual property lines are located in relation to the streets. Wright said this is the first he has heard of the situation. Since the mayor was absent, he couldn’t provide his input. Wright said he would meet with the mayor to find out his actual concerns. Once the survey is done they can look into it and see what the options are as to resolving the situation. In reports O’Neill reported they pumped 2.16 million gallons of water and sold 1.86 million gallons with a loss of about 13.6%. She also reported the city crew is replacing some old meters. Brett Miller reported about 440 feet of 6 inch sewer line was replaced along Front Street to Idaho Street behind Gem Builders. Kristie Holthaus reported the city crew will start crack sealing some of the streets once the weather permits. Linda Nida reported they are moving ahead with the park project. She has submitted more grant applications as they continue fund raising. Holthaus reported they are still looking at April or May for the slurry seal of the airport runways. Some crack sealing will be done prior to the seal coat. Nida reported the Fire Department has 2 new firemen who will be going to Orofino this weekend for training. There were no calls this past month. The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, April 10 at 7 p.m. |
