Vs. Potlatch at Lewiston
The Pirates and Loggers played two completely different games in Lewiston on Friday.
The first game was a pitcher’s duel between Prairie’s Noah Behler and Potlatch’s Jameson Morris. The second was anything but a pitcher’s duel. Noah Behler heads to first with a single against Potlatch as Colton McElroy can be seen heading home from third.
In the opener Behler allowed just 1 hit in 5 2/3 innings before hitting the pitch limit of 90 pitches.
The only run he gave up came in the top of the first inning on a walk, 2 stolen bases and a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the first Kaschmitter led off with a single, stole second, went to third on a groundout by Colton McElroy and scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Hinds.
In the second, Behler gave up another walk but struck out the other 3 hitters he faced. Prairie went down in order in their half of the second.
In the third Behler gave up an infield hit with 1 out but a strikeout and a pop up to second got him out of the inning.
Prairie again went down in order in the bottom of the third.
In the fourth Behler struck out the lead off hitter then a walk and a hit batsman put 2 runners on base. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third but 2 strikeouts got Behler out of the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth Prairie got to Morris for a pair of runs. Colton McElroy led off by beating out an infield hit. Hinds followed with a double to left with McElroy having to hold up at third. Behler singled to right to score McElroy. After an out, Hinds scored on a groundout to first by Quintal to make it 3-1.
In the fifth Behler hit the leadoff batter but a strikeout, popup and forceout got him out of the inning.
Prairie went down in order in the bottom of the fifth.
In the sixth Behler got 2 outs before hitting the pitch limit. Schwartz came in and got out of the inning with just 1 pitch as he induced a pop-up to second.
In the bottom of the sixth Prairie got a big insurance run and missed out on a chance for more. Colton McElroy led off with a walk and Hinds followed with an RBI double to left. Behler followed with a single to third. Shears then tried to bunt and wound up reaching first as Hinds got in a rundown between third and home with Behler winding up getting tagged out as he and Hinds both wound up at third base.  Quintal then grounded to short who threw Hinds out trying to score. The inning ended on a fly ball out to right.
With a 3-1 lead, Schwartz tried to hold on and got an out, walk and another out. A wild pitcher allowed the baserunner to score. He then hit a batter and coach David Shears decided to bring Colton McElroy in to pitch. McElroy walked both batters he faced. An error allowed a run to core and Potlatch had runners on second and third with 2 outs. They thought they would catch Prairie by surprise and sent the runner from third to try and steal home but McElroy stepped off the rubber and threw to catcher Cody Kaschmitter for the game-ending out.
Behler gave up just 1 hit and 1 run with 3 walks and 2 hit batsmen in 5 2/3 innings. Schwartz gave up 2 runs with not hits, 1 walk and 1 hit batsman in 1 full inning. McElroy gave up no runs and no hits with 2 walks in 1/3 of an inning.

Quintal received a 1-out walk in the second but was forced out by Dylan Uhlenkott. A strikeout then ended the inning.
McElroy was effectively wild in the bottom of the second as he walked the bases loaded but struck out the other 3 hitters he faced.
Prairie tied the game in the third as Kaden Duclos walked to lead off the inning and went to second on a wild pitch. An obstruction call on the play sent him to third. He scored on Colton McElroy’s 1 out single to right.

The umpire then had an issue with where McIntire was coming to a pause in his windup and 2 straight balks wound up getting called to score the runner. A single, error and infield single loaded the bases. A walk scored another run before McIntire got out of the inning with a called third strike. That made it 5-10.
