Pirates lose at Kendrick and Orofino
The Prairie Baseball team suffered their first league loss last Tuesday, April 4 when they were shut out by Kendrick 0-2. Prairie then lost a JV game that evening 9-11 to the Tigers. On Thursday, April 6, they were swept in a double header by the Orofino JV 1-16 and 1-10.
At Kendrick
In the league game at Kendrick, Prairie’s Noah Behler and Kendrick’s Ty Koepp hooked up in a pitcher’s duel. Behler only gave up 4 hits and 2 runs and had 5 strikeouts but Koepp was even better allowing only 3 hits and no runs with 7 strikeouts.
Koepp was also Kendrick’s offense as he had 3 of their 4 hits and scored both runs.
Cody Kaschmitter and Carter Shears each had a double for the Pirates while Colton McElroy had a single.

The JV game lasted just 3 innings due to darkness but each team scored in each of the 3 innings.
Prairie scored 5 in the top of the first, 1 in the second and 4 in the third. Kendrick scored 2 in the first and 1 in the second and trailed 9-3 heading into the bottom of the third. They came up with 8 runs to take the lead. The game was called after that inning.
Prairie had 4 hits in the game, a single each by Owen McIntire, Logan Weber, Chris Schumacher and Phil Schwartz.
McIntire started on the mound with Schwartz and Dylan Uhlenkott also pitching in the game.

JV at Orofino
Prairie struggled both on the mound and at the plate in a JV doubleheader at Orofino.
Prairie was limited to just 2 hits in the first game and just 1 in the second game.
In the field, walks and errors killed them in the opener as Orofino scored 16 runs on just 8 hits in a game called after 4 innings on the 15-run mercy rule.
Prairie scored in the opening inning of the first game but saw Orofino score 9 runs in the bottom of the first.
Eli Hinds and Behler each had a single in the opener for Prairie’s only hits.
Kaschmitter was the starting pitcher and gave way to Levi McElroy in the third inning.
In the second game Colton McElroy had Prairie’s only hit. Prairie’s only run came in the fourth inning after they were already behind 0-4.
The game was called after 6 innings.
Colton McElroy was the starting pitcher with Hinds coming on in relief in the third inning. McIntire came on to pitch in the fifth.
The Prairie varsity is now 4-4 overall and 3-1 in league play.
