Rowland awarded scholarship
The Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce held their annual Agriculture Appreciation Banquet on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. The banquet was sponsored by Rogers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and was held at the Hells Canyon Grand Hotel. Over 400 producers from the Lewis Clark Valley and surrounding areas were invited to enjoy a steak dinner at no charge. Realizing the positive impact agriculture has on our community and economy, the Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Agriculture Committee annually hosts this banquet. While we recognized the producers of the region, we also awarded $2,500 in scholarships to area high school seniors that will be seeking higher education. At this year’s banquet we raised over $12,000 for the Agriculture Scholarship Fund for upcoming Agriculture Banquets. Carlie Ball from Asotin High School received a $500 scholarship, Liliann Denham from Asotin High School received a $750 scholarship and Chloe Rowland from Prairie High School received a $1,250 scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship students must have been a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) or 4-H during your youth, or have significant work-related experience in agriculture. Chloe was unable to read her essay at the banquet because she was in Pocatello for state HOSA leadership conference. She recorded it and they played it at the event. On Thursday, April 13, Chloe was able to meet with Jack Kemp, Rogers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram General Manager and Blake Harrington, LC Valley Chamber of Commerce manager to thank them and receive her award.
