24 turn out for football
There are 24 players turned out for Prairie football this season led by 5 seniors.

Trenton Lorentz, Noah Behler, Bennie Elven, Ethan VonBargen and Blake Bunce are the seniors this year.
Lorentz, Behler and Elven and Bunce are all returning starters. Lorentz will be a key to the offense as the returning starting tailback while Behler is an all-league lineman and Elven is a receiver/defensive end.
The junior class will have Dylan Uhlenkott, Eli Hinds, Matt Wemhoff, Jake Quintal, Drake Cronan, Carter Shears, Tristian Mader, Noah Geis and Peter Remacle.
Hinds is the likely starting quarterback having played the position quite a bit last year. Shears is an all-league lineman on both sides of the ball. Cronan and Geis return to the program after not playing last year while Wemhoff is new to the program this season. Quintal played some at fullback last year as well as on the defensive line. He is listed on the offensive line this year. Uhlenkott is a second year player who played some at running back last year and quite a bit on defense.
Sophomores are Levi Gehring, Chris Schumacher, Oliver Hinman, Levi McElroy and Derek Pack.
Freshmen on the team are Payton Stamper, Ashton Martin, Lane Mader, Kade Quintal and Kaicon Downing.
All 3 coaches return from last year with TT Cain as head coach and Tanner Ross and Hayden Uhlenkott as assistant coaches.
The Pirates appear to have more key returnees than most other league teams and could be in the mix for a state playoff spot. Last year they were a final minute touchdown by C.V. from going to the state playoffs.
They open the season this Friday, Sept. 1, at Troy at 7 p.m. They travel to Potlatch next Friday, Sept. 8 and then have their first home game on Thursday, Sept. 14 against Timberline.

Prairie to have cheerleaders this year
Prairie will have cheerleaders returning to the sidelines this season after not having any last season.
Cheer coach Whitney Wonderlich has Bailey Key, Brehanna Fowler, Cierria Christopher, Kenna Granger, Meghan Fowler and Miranda Klapprich as football cheerleaders this fall.
