Cross Country team competes at Grangeville The Prairie Cross Country team got their season started with the Grangeville Fairway Frenzy Cross Country Invite. The girls team had a little more success than the boys as freshman Aubree Geis finished in fourth place with a time of 24:42 and fellow freshman Olivia Uhlenkott was also in the top ten in 8th place with a time of 26:37. Senior Elizabeth Severns was 15th in 29:04. Junior Natalie Goeckner was 24th in 31:35 and sophomore Alaina Lustig was 25th in 33:34. As a team the girls placed 2nd out of 3 teams. Sophomore Ben Secrest was the top finisher for the boys team as he placed 16th with a time of 22:45. Fellow sophomore Jackson Enneking was just 2 spots behind in 18th in 23:15. Sophomore Max Rehder was 30th in the 25:14. Freshman Gabe Decaria was 42nd in 28:10. Sophomore Dylan Klapprich was 43rd in 28:18 and sophomore Landon Riener was 44th in 28:54. As a team Prairie placed 5th out of 5 teams. Prairie’s top finisher on the day was Matthew Jones who took first place, by quite a wide margin, in the junior high boys race. His time was 12:50. Also running in the junior high race was Kade Hanson who was 12th in 17:42. Also on the team this year but unable to compete at Grangeville are sophomore Callie Remacle, and freshmen Evelyn Gehring and Ella McLeod on the girls high school team and senior Zane Uptmor and sophomore Chase Vonbargen on the boys team. The next scheduled competition for the Cross Country team is the Seaport Invite at Clarkston on Saturday, Sept. 9. The full junior high team should be available for that meet as well.
