Lady Pirates win 1 of 3 league matches PIRATES GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
SCHEDULE FOR 2023
The Prairie Lady Pirates played 3 road league matches in the past week and lost 2 of the 3. On Tuesday, Sept. 5, they traveled to Kamiah and lost in 5 sets, 15-25, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24, 13-15. On Thursday, Sept. 7, they traveled to Genesee and lost in 4 sets, 17-25, 14-25, 25-23, 15-25. Finally on Monday, Sept. 11 they traveled to Lapwai and won in 4 games 25-16, 26-24, 9-25, 25-19. At Kamiah In the first game at
Kamiah, Prairie scored the first point on a kill by Kylie Schumacher
but that was they only lead they would have. Kamiah scored the next 6
points and 12 of
the next 15 as they took a commanding 4-12 lead. The Kubs increase the
lead to 10 on several occasions including the final score.Kamiah scored first in the second game but a kill by Alli Geis and a 4 point serving run by Sydney Shears gave Prairie their second lead of the night. Shears had 2 aces while Geis had a block and Lexi Schumacher had a kill. Kamiah came back to tie the game at 8-8 but was unable to take the lead as a block by Kylie Schumacher put Prairie back into the lead and the Pirates never game it up. Geis had a string of 3 aces that pushed the lead from 17-14 to 20-14. Kamiah got back within 2 at 21-19 but a block by Kylie Schumacher and 2 aces by Lexi Schumacher put Priarie at game point at 24-19. After a Kamiah sideout, Shears scored the game-winner on a cross-court spike. In the third game Kamiah took the early lead and held it until Prairie tied it at 6-6. Twice Kamiah took back the lead until at 8-8 Sierra Oliver served 2 aces for a 10-8 lead. Kamiah took back the lead at 11-12 and except for a tie at 13-13, the Kubs held the lead the rest of the way. In game 4 Prairie fell behind early on by as many as 5 points at 7-12 and 8-13 before mounting a comeback. A sideout kill by Kylie Schumacher sent Kaylie Lockett to the service line. Prairie scored 4 straight points to take a 17-15 lead as Lockett served an ace with Kylie Schumacher scoring 2 kills and Lexi Schumacher also scoring a kill. Kamiah came back to retake the lead with a 4 point run that turned a 19-18 deficit into a 19-22 lead before Geis scored a sideout kill. Tamden Pecarovich served an ace and Shears scored a kill to tie it. After 4 straight sideouts it was tied at 24-24. With Geis serving, Lexi Schumacher scored a kill to get to game point. Geis then served an ace to tie the match at 2 games each. In the fifth game Kamiah scored first but a kill by Geis and 2 aces by Pecarovich put Priarie on top 3-1. Prairie led 5-3 after an ace by Shears when Kamiah scored a sideout and then 6 straight points to take a 5-10 lead. The Kubs then held on to win the match. Lexi Schumacher had 14 kills, 3 assists and 2 aces to lead the team. Kylie Schumacher also had 14 kills, including 6 blocks. Geis had 10 kills, including 4 blocks, plus 5 aces. Shears had 4 kills, 3 assists and 5 aces. Pecarovich had 3 kills, 25 assists and 5 aces. Riener had 3 kills and 1 assist. Lockett had 1 assist and 5 aces. Oliver had 1 kill and 2 aces. The JV team lost 11-25, 25-16, 13-15. In the first game they fell behind 3-8 and 3-10 early. After a dig by Avery Kehler they trailed 10-15 but that was as close as they would get as Kamiah scored the next 7 points and allowed Prairie just 1 more point on a tip by Hailey Hanson. In the second game they scored the first 3 points on a kill by Aubree Rehder and 2 aces by Avery Riener and never trailed. Hanson had a 6-point serving run that turned a 7-4 lead into a 13-4 lead as she had 5 aces and Ellie Nuxoll added a kill. The two teams played even from that point as Prairie wound up winning by 9 with Nadia Cash scoring the game-winning kill. Prairie fell behind 0-4 in the deciding game but fought back to tie the game at 11-11 after 2 aces by Hanson. Unfortunately Prairie was never able to take the lead as Kamiah went on to win by 2. The C team lost both of their games 12-25 and 14-25. At Genesee In the first game at Genesee Prairie started well with a kill by Geis and an ace by Oliver. Genesee then pretty much controlled the rest of the game as they took their first lead at 6-7 and then took the lead for good at 8-9. They built the lead to 8-13, 9-17 and 11-21. Prairie got back within 7 at 15-22 then Genesee scored 2 straight to get to game point. Prairie fought off game-point twice on a kill by Kylie Schumacher and an ace by Kaylie Lockett before Genesee scored the game-winning sideout. In the second game Prairie fell behind early but styed close until Genesee broke a 10-10 tie by scoring 9 of the next 10 points for an 11-19 lead. They went on to win by 11. Prairie fell behind 3-6 in the third game then scored 6 straight points to take the lead. Geis scored a sideout kill then went to the service line. After a block by Kylie Schumacher, Geis served 3 straight aces. A kill by Kylie Schumacher made it 9-6. Genesee then came back to tie the game at 13-13 and took back the lead at 14-16. They held the lead until Prairie tied it at 22 on a block by Lexi Schumacher. After a sideout, Lexi Schumacher scored a kill to tie it again at 23. A block by Kylie Schumacher gave Prairie a 24-23 lead and an ace by Geis gave Prairie the win. In game 4 Prairie scored the first point on a kill by Lexi Schumacher. After 3 straight sideouts, Genesee took their first lead and scored the next 3 points. They never gave the lead back although Prairie got back within 1 at 11-12. From that point on Genesee outscored Prairie 4-13. Kylie Schumacher had 17 kills, including 4 blocks with 2 assists. Lexi Schumacher had 16 kills, including a block with 4 assists. Geis had 11 kills, including 2 blocks, plus 4 aces. Pecarovich had 4 kills, 36 assists and 1 ace. Riener had 4 kills and 2 assists. Shears had 1 kill and 2 assists. Lockett had 1 kill. Oliver had 2 aces. The JV team lost their match 22-25, 23-25, 12-15. Despite losing all 3 games, they were all very competitive. Prairie opened the first game by taking a 9-2 lead as Rehder and Hanson each had a solid serving run. Prairie held the lead until a Genesee rally put them ahead at 15-16. Once they took the lead they never gave it back even though they never led by more than 3. In the second game Prairie fell behind 1-5 at the start but rallied back to take an 8-6 lead with Hanson serving. Nuxoll had a block, Hanson an ace and Halee Rowland a kills as Prairie turned a 5-6 deficit into that 8-6 lead. Prairie held the lead until Genesee tied it at 14-14. After a kill by Hanson, Prairie again held the lead until Genesee tied it at 17-17. Genesee took the lead at 19-21 but Prairie was able to tie it after a block by Nuxoll and an ace by Cash. Genesee took the lead right back on a cross court kill and an ace and held on to win by 2 points. Genesee scored first in the third game but Prairie came right back with 6 straight points. Hanson had 2 kills plus a block. Riener served an ace and Erica Schlader and Rowland each added a kill for a 6-1 lead. Prairie still lead 8-4 when Genesee scored a sideout and then served 6 straight points to take an 8-11 lead. Prairie tied it at 11 after a kill by Cash, an ace by Schlader and a kill by Nuxoll. However Prairie scored only 1 more points as Genesee went on to win. The C team split their two games 20-25 and 25-11. At Lapwai Prairie fell behind 0-3
and 1-5 in the opening game against Lapwai. After a missed Lapwai
serve, Shears served Prairie to the lead. She had 2 aces while Kylie
Schumacher had 3 kills and Lexi Schumacher and Riener had 1 kill each
as Prairie took a 9-5 lead.Lapwai fought back to retake the lead at 13-14 before missing another serve. Geis scored a kill to put Prairie back on top but Lapwai then tied it at 15. Another kill by Geis sent her to the service line where she benefitted from Kylie Schumacher’s net play as Schumacher had 2 kills and a block for a 19-15 Prairie lead. Lapwai scored a sideout but Shears answered with a sideout kill. Pecarovich then served out the game. Lexi Schumacher, Shears and Pecarovich each scored a kill then Pecarovich finished off the game with 2 aces. Pecarovich started the second game off with another ace but Lapwai then scored a sideout and took a 2-3 lead. Hailey Hanson was called up from the JV to fill in for Kylie Schumacher who was playing on a tender ankle. After playing the first game Schumacher sat out the second and third games. Hanson scored a sideout kill to tie it and Geis scored a kill for the lead with Lockett serving an ace to make it 5-3. Prairie held the lead until Lapwai tied it at 8-8 and again at 9-9. Oliver then scored a kill to send Pecarovich to the service line. After an ace and a kill each by Oliver and Hanson, Prairie led 13-9. 3 aces by Oliver pushed the lead to 17-10. Lapwai then scored 11 of the next 13 points to take a 19-21 lead. 3 consecutive kill by Geis put Prairie back into the lead and Pecarovich added a kill to make it 23-21. Lapwai answered with 3 straight points to get to game point at 23-24. Prairie called a timeout and answered with a kill by Geis to tie it. A kill each by Geis and Oliver then gave Prairie the win. The third game was a Murphy’s Law game for the Pirates as everything that could go wrong did. Prairie fell behind 1-10 and never really got back into the game as Lapwai thumped them 9-25. Prairie regrouped and Pecarovich served them toa 3-0 lead in the fourth game. Kylie Schumacher was back on the court and scored 2 kills with Lexi Schumacher adding a kill. Lapwai got within 1 at 3-2 but a net violation put Oliver at the service line. A kill and a block by Kylie Schumacher and 3 aces by Oliver put Prairie up 9-2. Lapwai then came back to withing 2 at 9-7. They also cut the lead to 2 at 10-8 and 12-10. A tip by Lexi Schumacher made it 13-10 and then she served 3 straight aces for a 16-10 lead. Prairie held the lead at 5-7 points the rest of the way to win the match. Despite playing just 2 of the 4 games, Kylie Schumacher led in kills with 11 which included 2 blocks. She also had 2 assists. Geis had 10 kills including a block plus 1 assist. Lexi Schumacher had 10 kills, 3 assists and 3 aces. Reiner had 8 kills and 1 assist. Oliver had 4 kills and 6 aces. Hanson had 4 kills. Pecarovich had 2 kills, 34 assists and 4 aces. Shears had 2 kills and 2 aces. Martin had 2 assists and 4 aces. Lockett had 2 assists and 2 aces. Prairie is now 2-3 overall and in league play. The JV won all three of their games, 25-13, 25-18 and 15-11. They started the first game by taking a 5-0 lead as Rehder scored a sideout kill and Riener served 4 straight points. Hanson and Rehder each had a kill and Riener served 2 aces. Lapwai got within 2 points at 5-3 but never got any closer. A kill each by Nuxoll and Riener helped pushed the lead back to 10-4. Lapwai managed to pulled within 3 at 14-11 but a kill and then an ace by Nuxoll quickly pushed the lead back to 5 at 16-11. After a pair of sideouts, Riener served 5 straight points, which included 3 aces, to push the lead to 22-12. After another pair of sideouts, Rehder served 2 aces to finish off the game. The second game saw Lapwai take their first lead at 2-3 but they then missed a serve to tie it and Nuxoll served an ace for the lead. After a missed serve by each team, Schlader served 3 straight aces for an 8-4 lead. Lapwai eventually fought back to tie it at 14-14. They then missed a serve to put Prairie back on top and Rehder followed with 4 straight aces for a 19-13 lead. Prairie then held on with Rowland serving up an ace for the game-winner. Lapwai took only their second lead of the night in the third game at 1-2 but a kill each by Rehder and Nuxoll, 2 aces by Rehder and two kills by Cash gave Prairie a 7-2 lead. Lapwai came back to within 3 but got no closer as Prairie held on to win by 4 with Rehder scoring the match-ending kill. The C team easily won their two games, 25-5 and 25-9.
