Lady Pirates win Timberline Tournament
The Prairie Lady Pirates had a rough week in league play as they were swept by both Logos and Potlatch at Moscow on Tuesday, Sept. 19. They were then swept at Troy on Thursday, Sept. 21.Alli Geis spikes the ball at Logos. Also shown are Tamden Pecarovich and Sierra Oliver.
They finished the week on an upnote though as they won the tournament championship at the Inaugural Timberline Tournament as they beat Salmon River 19-25, 25-9, 15-3; Clearwater Valley 23-25, 25-22, 15-7 and Timberline 25-17, 25-16 to win their pool. They then beat St. John Bosco 28-26, 25-16 in the semifinals and Lapwai 25-23, 16-25, 15-13 in the championship match.
At Logos
It was an ugly match for the Lady Pirates against Logos as they fell 7-25, 14-25, 21-25.
Prairie fell behind 0-16 in the opening game before a kill by Lexi Schumacher put them on the scoreboard. Logos then scored the next 4 for a 1-20 lead.
Prairie actually outscore Logos 6-5 the rest of the game but it wasn’t anywhere near enough.
In the second game Prairie fell behind 3-9 and then 7-15. They never really mounted any kind of rally as the final score was their biggest deficit.
In the third game they took a 6-1 lead as Lexi Schumacher had 3 aces and Sierra Oliver added a kill. Logos came back and eventually took the lead at 12-14.
Prairie took back the lead with Lexi Schumacher serving as she had 2 aces while Alli Geis and Kaylie Lockett each had a kill to make it 18-15.
Logos scored 5 of the next 6 points for a 19-20 lead.
Prairie added only 2 more points in the match, both on missed Logos serves.
Lexi Schumacher led the team in kills with 7 with 4 aces. Geis had 6 kills and 1 ace. Oliver had 3 kills and 8 assists. Taylor Riener had 3 kills and 1 assist.  Lockett had 2 kills and 1 assist. Kylie Schumacher had 2 kills. Shears had 1 kill, 1 assist and 1 ace. Tamden Pecarovich had 12 assists and 1 ace.
Vs. Potlatch at Logos
The Potlatch match that followed the Logos match wasn’t much better as Prairie lost 11-25, 22-25, 12-25.
The Pirates scored first in the opening game as Geis won a joust at the net. However Potlatch scored the next 6 points and never trailed again as they went on to win by 14 points.
The second game was more competitive as Prairie took leads of 4-1 and 8-3. Potlatch then scored the next 8 points to take their first lead of the game.
Prairie never led again although they were able to tie the score at 18 after having fallen behind by as many as 6 at 11-17. 3 aces by Lexi Schumacher and an ace by Geis helped get them to that tie.
They were able to tie the score again at 19 and at 21. Potlatch score 4 of the final 5 points of the game to win by 3.
In the third game Prairie’s final lead came at 11-10 after a kill by Geis and 2 straight kills by Lexi Schumacher with Pecarovich serving. Potlatch then scored 14 of the next 15 points with Prairie’s only point coming on a kill by Oliver.
Oliver had 7 kills, 8 assists and 1 ace in the match. Lexi Schumacher had 7 kills, 1 assist and 4 aces. Geis had 6 kills and 1 ace. Shears had 4 kills and 1 ace. Riener, Ember Martin and Kylie Schumacher each had 1 kill. Pecarovich had 16 assists and 1 ace. Lockett had 1 ace.
The JV matches against Logos and Potlatch were played at Potlatch and Prairie won both matches, no scores available.
At Troy
The match at Troy was the Trojans Senior Night and they beat Prairie 25-3, 25-15, 25-13.
Prairie is now 3-6 overall and in league play.

Timberline Tournament
Prairie struggled out of the gate against Salmon River at the Timberline Tournament as they fell behind 10-22 at one point.
A confidence builder for the rest of the match may have come at that point as Salmon River missed a serve and Lexi Schumacher came on with 4 straight aces to cut the deficit to 7 at 15-22.
After a trade of sideouts, Geis served 2 aces to cut the deficit to 18-23. Salmon River was able to score 2 of the next 3 points to pull out the win.
The second game saw a completely different Prairie team show up. Geis scored a kill to open the game then Pecarovich served 6 aces and Oliver and Lexi Schumacher each added a kill as Prairie took a 9-0 lead.
Another kill by Oliver, a kill by Geis and an ace by Oliver had Prairie up 15-4.

After 4 straight sideouts, Lexi Schumacher served an ace for game point and Oliver then scored the game-winning kill.
In the deciding third game, Pecarovich served Prairie to a 3-0 lead with an ace and a kill each by her and Lexi Schumacher.
After 2 sideouts, Oliver scored a kill and Lexi Schumacher served 2 aces for a 7-1 lead.
After 4 straight sideouts the score was 9-3 with Oliver at the serving line. Hanson scored a kill and then Oliver served 5 straight aces to close out the match.
The opening game against C.V. was a back and forth affair with neither side taking much of an advantage.
The lead changed hands 7 times with Prairie’s biggest lead being 4 at 18-14.
C.V. took a 20-22 lead late in the game but a kill by Hanson and an ace by Pecarovich tied it. C.V. then score 2 straight to get to game point.

The second game saw Prairie jump out to leads of 7-1 and 12-3. Lexi Schumacher served 5 straight points that included an ace, a block by Geis, 2 kills by Aubree Rehder, also up from the JV for the tournament, and 1 kill by Oliver.
After 2 C.V. points, Geis scored a block and went to the service line. Kylie Schumacher scored a kill and then Geis had 3 aces for a 12-3 lead.
C.V. started mounting a comeback and got within 3 at 20-17. A net foul put Geis on the service line and a kill each by Kylie Schumacher and Pecarovich made it 23-17.
C.V. scored 3 straight before Rehder scored on a tip to get to game point. C.V. fought off 2 game points before Rehder scored the game winning kill.
In the deciding game C.V. scored first but Prairie then scored 5 straight. Oliver had 2 kills and Lexi Schumacher served 2 aces. A net violation made it 5-1.
C.V. rallied back within 2 at 8-6 before a kill by Kylie Schumacher, 2 aces by Shears and a kill by Lexi Schumacher made it 12-6.
C.V. scored a sideout but Lexi Schumacher answered with a kill. Locket serve an ace and then Riener scored the match winning kill.
Prairie finally got a straight sets win when they faced Timberline.
Pecarovich served Prairie to a 4-0 lead in the opener. Prairie led 11-5 after an ace by Oliver but Timberline then fought back within 2 at 12-10 before bricking a serve.
Lockett served 2 aces and Geis scored a kill to get the lead back to 6 at 16-10.
Timberline was able to get within 4 at 21-17 but a kill each by Geis and Oliver and 2 aces by Geis gave Prairie an 8-point win.
Pecarovich served Prairie to a 3-0 lead in the second game with an ace and a kill and a block by Hanson.
Timberline cut the lead to 1 at 4-3 and 5-4 but Prairie answered each time. Lockett served 3 straight points which included 2 aces for an 11-6 lead.
Timberline was finally able to rally to a 15-15 tie before missing a serve.
Oliver served 2 aces to put Prairie back on top. After a pair of sideouts. Rehder was able to serve out the match. She had 3 aces while Kylie Schumacher had a kill and then a block. Lexi Schumacher then scored the match-winning kill.
It was an all-Cottonwood semifinal as Prairie faced St. John Bosco.
In the first game Bosco took a 2-4 lead before Oliver scored a sideout kill and Geis served Prairie to a 9-4 lead. Kylie Schumacher scored on a block and 2 additional kills. Geis served 2 aces and Kylie added another kill.
Bosco got back withing 3 at 10-7 before a net violation set Shears to the service line. Another Kylie Schumacher kill was followed by 3 aces by Shears and a kill by Lexi Schumacher for a 15-7 lead.
Prairie still led 24-19 after a block by Kylie Schumacher but then struggled to get the game winning point. Bosco scored a sideout kill and then rallied to a 24-24 tie before missing a serve. Bosco then scored the next 2 points for a 25-26 lead before another missed serve.
Shears served an ace and Lexi Schumacher scored the game winning kill as Prairie pulled out the victory.
In the second game Bosco scored first but then missed a served. A kill by Lexi Schumacher and 2 aces by Pecarovich put Prairie ahead and they never trailed again.
Bosco made them work for it as Prairie led 8-5 then there were 9 straight sideouts before Prairie finally got another service point on a block by Geis. A kill each by Oliver and Geis made it 16-9.
Bosco got back within 3 at 18-15 but Prairie then took control. Shears served 3 aces and Kylie and Lexi Schumacher each had a kill to get to match point at 24-15. Bosco fought off one match point before losing.
Prairie faced Lapwai in the championship match.
Lexi Schumacher had an early service run that gave Prairie a 6-1 lead. She had 2 aces while she and Geis each had a kill.
Lapwai rallied back to a tie at 10-10 but Prairie kept them from taking the lead. The score was tied again at 15 and finally at 23-23. At that point Lexi Schumacher scored a kill for a sideout and Lockett then served the game-winning ace.
In the second game Lapwai built a 6-11 lead only to see Prairie come back to tie it at 11 as Geis scored twice on blocks and Lockett served an ace.
Lapwai answered with 4 straight though and pretty much controlled the rest of the game as they evened up the match with a 9-point win.
In the third game Prairie took a 7-4 lead as Lexi Schumacher served 2 aces while Pecarovich and Geis each had 1.
Lapwai then scored 5 straight to take a 7-8 lead. They lead 8-10 when a kill by Kylie Schumacher and an ace by Shears tied it.
Lapwai again took the lead and led 11-12 when Prairie finally took over. Lapwai was called for a back row attacker violation and Pecarovich followed with an ace to put Prairie ahead. A kill by Lexi Schumacher gave Prairie a match point opportunity.
Lapwai fought the first one off before Lexi Schumacher scored the championship winning point.
For the day Lexi Schumacher had 32 kills, 1 assist and 21 aces. Geis had 28 kills, including 9 blocks, 1 assist and 16 aces. Kylie Schumacher had 24 kills, including 4 blocks. Oliver had 22 kills, 47 assists and 13 aces. Pecarovich had 12 kills, 51 assists and 17 aces. Rehder had 12 kills and 3 aces. Hanson had 7 kills, including a block, 2 assists and 2 aces. Riener had 6 kills and 5 assists. Shears had 2 kills, 11 assists and 10 aces. Lockett had 1 kill, 3 assists and 9 aces. Martin had 1 kill and 1 assist.
