Timberline Tournament
They opened play at the Timberline Tournament against the Orofino JV team and won in straight sets 25-22, 25-19. Rachel Sonnen serves at the Timberline Tournament. Also shown is Sarah Waters.
They jumped out to a 4-1 lead then Orofino rallied to take the lead and Orofino either led or it was tied until Julia Wassmuth took over at the service line after a free ball by Sarah Waters scored a sideout to tie it at 17. Wassmuth served and ace for the lead. Waters slammed one off of an Orofino block for a kill and then Wassmuth added 2 more aces for a 21-17 lead.
After 3 straight sideouts Orofino served and ace to pull within 2. Back to back kills by Waters put Bosco at game point. After a sideout and an ace by Orofino, Waters scored the game winning kill.
Noelle Chmelik served Bosco to a 4-0 lead in the second game with 3 aces plus a kill by Wassmuth. Orofino came back with 4 straight to tie it but 3 aces by Rachel Sonnen put Bosco back on top by 4 at 8-4. They then held the lead until Orofino came back to take their first lead of the match at 16-17.
Bosco took the lead back on a free ball by Savannah Perrin. Bosco led by 3 at 20-17 before Orofino rallied to cut the lead to 20-19 before missing a serve. Maleah Cummings, who had struggled to get a serve in play earlier in the match, found her range and served 4 straight aces to give the Patriots the match.
In their second round match they faced league foe Highland and lost the match 16-25, 25-18, 11-15.
In their final pool play match they faced Lapwai and lost the match 21-25, 25-11, 17-19. That wound up being the pool championship match as Lapwai finished 3-0 to win the pool and although Bosco was 1-2, so were Highland and the Orofino JV. Bosco’s tiebreaker that gave them second was the fact they beat Lapwai one game giving Lapwai their only set loss in pool play. Bosco wound up going 4-4 in games while Highland was 2-5 and Orofino was 2-4.
In bracket play they faced Prairie, the champion from the other pool and lost 26-28, 16-25, giving the Pirates all they wanted in a loss that ended their day.
In the opening game Prairie jumped out to a lead of 7-15 and led 22-15 before Bosco started their rally. After a sideout, Sonnen served 3 points to get Bosco within 3 at 19-22. Prairie got to game point at 20-24 when Waters scored a kill to send herself to the service line. She served Bosco into a 24-24 tie as Sonnen scored 2 kills and Wassmuth another.
A missed serve gave Prairie another game-point chance but a kill by Wassmuth tied it at 25. A kill by Chmelik gave Bosco a game point chance at 25-26 but a missed serve tied it. Prairie then scored the next two points to win the game.
In the second game Bosco’s only lead came at 1-0 after a kill by Chmelik. A missed served led to 4 straight by Prairie and the Pirates eventually led 9-16 . Bosco got back within 3 at 15-18 after an ace by Catherine Seubert but Prairie then scored a sideout and 5 straight to get to match point at 15-24. Seubert score a sideout kill but Bosco missed their next serve to give the match to Prairie.
