Hunter with broken leg rescued
On September 30, 2023, at approximately 1:30 PM, Idaho County Deputy Stan Denham received a call from a friend. The friend stated he received an Inreach message advising his sister-in-law had fallen and broken her leg while bow hunting. They were in the Glade Creek area off of Highway 12. They were approximately 200 yards off of the trail and about 2 ½ miles from the highway.
Deputy Stan Denham and Deputy Sean Nelson responded and with the help of the Kooskia Ambulance and three other hunters, they were able to carry her to the trail and then wheeled her to the ambulance in a heavy rainstorm.
Idaho County Sheriff Doug Ulmer wishes to thank everyone for their swift and excellent response to helping a citizen in need. We wish her a speedy recovery!
