Cottonwood Community Hall floods The Cottonwood Community Hall had a 3/8” toilet tank water supply line break sometime between 7 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 27 and 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28. The entire main floor was flooded with the city clerk’s office getting hit hard due to the proximity to the restrooms. Water also found its way downstairs with water dripping into the library, causing bubbling of the paint in the walls, and dripping into most every room downstairs including police chief Terry Cochran’s office and the storage rooms. No estimates of damage were available as yet. An insurance claims adjuster is expected to come in later this week. Until further notice the Senior Citizens meals that had been served in the hall basement will be served at the Assumption Parish Hall in Ferdinand. For those picking up meals they will still be available at the Cottonwood Community Hall at the upper kitchen outside entrance on the south side of the hall. A pipe broke in one of the upstairs restrooms at Cottonwood Community Hall flooding the main level with water seeping downstairs as well. Above members of the city crew try to get water off the main level. A plastic garbage can was used in the Library at the checkout desk to catch some of the water dropping from the main level. Water dripping from upstairs seeped down the walls getting under the paint and creating water blisters that eventually broke. Police Chief Terry Cochran's office had a water blister break sending water to the floor. Police Chief Terry Cochran checks out the ater on the floor in his office. Most of the downstaists flooring wound up having to be removed as it started curling. |
