Cottonwood City Council meets The Cottonwood City Council held their October meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The met upstairs due to the water damage downstairs from the recent flooding in the hall. The council discussed moving the offices of the city clerk and police chief. They will be renting Lauretta Poxleitner’s office space on Main Street on a month-to-month basis from when they need to move out of the hall until they can move back. Prior to the regular meeting, JUB Engineers did a public presentation on the Cottonwood Wastewater Facility Plan and answered questions from those in attendance. A special open house on this is set for Thursday, October 26 at the Hall. Several items related to the wastewater project were approved. A facility plan with the alternative of 100% land application was approved and then adopted. A Leading Idaho Funds agreement with the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) was approved. This is for the $20 million grant for the project. A JUB General Water Contract update was approved which increased their payment from $10,000 to $40,000. A Joint power agreement with ICRMP, the city’s insurance carrier, was approved. A Hall waiver request for the VFW’s awards night ceremony was approved. However it was pointed out to them that they may have to relocate if work at the hall gets started by then. The order prohibiting open burning and use of fireworks was rescinded however burn permits still apply. A resolution was approved to give 2 picnic tables from the park that were declared as surplus to Highland High School. Another resolution was approved to give 2 wooden tables and 5 benches from the park that were declared as surplus to the Idaho County Fair. Relocating upcoming council meetings was discussed. Mayor Keith Holcomb will look into some possibilities. The meeting adjourned at 7:51 p.m. The next regular meeting would be Monday, November 13 at 7 p.m. Site to be determined. |
