Genesee ends Prairie's season
The Prairie Lady Pirates saw their volleyball season end with a 10-25, 25-19, 19-25, 18-25 loss to Genesee Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the LCSC Activity Center in Lewiston. Alli Geis bumps the ball over the net. Also shown are Taylor Riener and Sydney Shears.
Genesee went on to beat Logos and Kamiah to earn a trip to State as the #2 seed from District 2.
In the first game Prairie scored the first 2 points on an ace by Tamden Pecarovich and a kill by Taylor Riener. However Genesee scored the next 6 points to take the lead.
Prairie stayed within 3 or 4 points until Genesee had a run of scoring 11 out of 12 points as they turned a 6-9 lead into a 7-20 lead.
Prairie’s final 4 points in the game all came on sideouts as an ace by Kaylie Lockett to make it 6-8 was their final point while serving.
Prairie managed to rebound in the second game as they took a 4 points lead at 10-6 on 2 kills by Alli Geis and 2 aces by Lexi Schumacher.
Genesee came back to retake the lead at 14-17 before a back row kill by Lexi Schumacher. Sydney Shears then put together the best serving run all night by Prairie. Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout kill then Shears served 8 straight points. She had 4 aces while Kylie Schumacher had 3 kills and Lexi Schumacher added another as Prairie took a 23-18 lead.
After 2 points by Genesee, Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout kill and then Geis scored the game-winning kill to even the match at 1 game each.
Prairie was unable to take that momentum into the third game as they fell behind 0-4.
They fought back to within 2 at 7-9 after a kill and then an ace by Geis. They still trailed by 2 after 4 straight sideouts at 9-11.
Genesee pulled out to a 5-point lead by a kill each by Geis and Lexi Schumacher and an ace by Sierra Oliver got them back with 2 at 13-15.
Prairie was within 2 for the final time at 17-19 after 2 straight kills by Kylie Schumacher. Genesee then scored 3 straight and went on to win by 6.
A block by Kylie Schumacher gave them a 1-0 lead in the fourth game but that was to be their only lead.
Genesee took a lead but Prairie was able to tie it at 5-5 on an ace by Oliver. Genesee then scored 7 straight points to take control.
Praire was able to get back within 3 at 16-19 after an ace by Lockett and again at 17-20 after a bad Genesee serve.
Genesee then outscored Prairie 1-5 to win the game and the match.
Kylie Schumacher had 13 kills including a block. Geis had 9 kills including a block and 2 aces. Lexi Schumacher had 7 kills, 1 assist and 2 aces. Shears had 2 kills, 3 assists and 5 aces. Oliver had 1 kill, 8 assists and 2 aces. Lockett had 1 kill and 1 ace. Ember Martin had 1 kill. Pecarovich had 14 assists and 2 aces.
Prairie ends their season with a record of 7 wins and 11 losses.
