From the Cottonwood Police Chief
The cold temperatures, white stuff on the
ground, gloves and warm coats are a sign that winter is close by.
As such, we are all preparing for the snow and cold, whether that is
gathering firewood, covering campers, checking antifreeze in
vehicles or covering outside water spigots, there seems to always be
some sort of preparation necessary.
That is the same thing with the Cottonwood City Maintenance folks. They are getting the city ready for winter, between having sanding gravel available, snow plows on equipment, and trucks at the ready to help out. This is where you, the community members, come in as well. Our maintenance crew needs you to do your part in helping out. I'm sure everyone remembers past years when there was a berm of snow around a parked car on the street and that pile kept getting bigger and bigger. If you have a trailer, camper, RV, or rarely used vehicle on the street they need you to move it off of the street so they can keep the roads clear. If that vehicle happens to be unregistered, and for whatever reason hadn't been caught by law enforcement yet, a pile of snow where the plow had to go around it is a big signal there is an issue with the vehicle. This could result in citations and fines on the vehicle as well. If you see in the morning that they plowed around the car that you do use, move it to the opposite side of the road that night so the crews have a chance to clear out where it was previously parked. Folks, in short, we need you to move unnecessary rigs, trailers, campers off of the street. If you want it or not, winter and snow are coming. Our City crews work hard to try and keep the streets open. Help them out, please. If you can't move the vehicle, call me, I can get a tow truck to help you out, and even that will help keep money in our town as we have one local that can handle the job! |
