To the Library and Beyond
Salutations to all you library-lovers!  On November 12 we observe National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day, commending the books that provide spiritual comfort food.  November 13-17 is National Young Readers Week to focus national attention on the importance of reading and November 14 is Young Readers Day when we can read with children, read to children and introduce children to interesting books.  November 15 is “I Love To Write Day,” the day dedicated for people who have much to share with others by their writing.  November 18 is International Games Day – because “[games are fun and beneficial for all ages].”  Games are considered especially beneficial “to help English language learners experience the power of play.”  This is also the day we are going to “High-Five a Librarian,” especially if we have neglected to do so previously.  We hope your family continues learning and reading together this month.  We encourage all college students to take advantage of available scholarships.  Have you been writing about your life, this month?  Have you written your 50,000-word manuscript yet?  That is only about 100 pages of double-spaced typing; you can do it.
Prairie Community Library has completely vacated their 38-year location in the basement of the Cottonwood Community Hall and while the Library is closed, we will have time to catch up on the tasks we’ve been too busy to finish.
Super-kudos to Carissa Jones – Children’s Librarian and Vice-President of the Board of Directors – for her peerless achievement recruiting volunteers, boxing-up the books and preparing the shelving for storage.  Hearty thanks, also, to our President of the Board, Emmett Wilson who has once again provided the leadership necessary to get this part of our onerous task completed; he has reminded us that “this was the easy part.”  More news next week.
We continue to urge patrons who have books from the Library to return them to the book drop at the back of the building.  Thank you
