To the Library and Beyond
Author Sidney Sheldon has been quoted as saying, “Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination,” which would probably be an excellent motto for any library!
The Week before Thanksgiving – November 16 to 22 – is National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, a cooperative effort to uphold the values of basic human rights.  Then, of course, as we all know, November 23 is Thanksgiving Day when the entire Country is united in a spirit of grateful thanks for our freedom, for all that we can learn and all that we can accomplish using our knowledge.  Thanksgiving is an obvious opportunity to recognize the many valuable contributions of all Native Peoples.
The third full week of November, 19-25 is designated National Young Readers Week as a celebration of the power of reading as well as an encouragement for children to read.  The American Library Association also considers this same week National Book Award Week, ”[focusing] on America’s future authors, books, and literature in general.“  Perhaps some young readers could be interested in creating their own picture book to celebrate this “Picture Book Month.”
The volunteers who have been keeping Prairie Community Library a local source of literature and knowledge hope that all our patrons and all residents of the area continue learning and reading together in our families.  We encourage all retirees to pen your stories about your lives.
When you get writer’s cramp or lose your focusing inspiration you may want to visit Dog Bark Park and take advantage of the Little Free Library there or any of the many book exchange collections around Cottonwood.
The volunteers who staff the Library and the Board of Directors wish each of you a supremely happy Thanksgiving Day hoping it may inspire many lasting cheerful memories.
We continue to urge patrons who have books from the Library to return them to the book drop at the back of the building.  Thank you
