Cottonwood City Council meets The Cottonwood City Council held their December meeting Monday, Dec. 11. They approved signing a contract with Pump Tech to fix well #2. The city had asked for a substantial completion date of May 1, 2024 but the company couldn’t guarantee they would get the motor needed in time to make that deadline. The council also voted to approve the annexation of the portion of the football/track complex that was outside city limits. The council also voted to approve transfer of the alcohol beverage license from Wolftrack Brewing to Three Mile Group, LLC. This will be good until January 31, 2024 when Three Mile Group will have to apply for a license that is good for 2024. The council voted to accept the election results for the bond election as submitted by Idaho County. They discussed the service estimate for the street sweeper and decided to have the city crew look into this further and find other possible options. They are looking at up to $50,000 in repairs. The council approved the meeting dates and times for 2024. Meetings will be on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. except for October and November due to holidays. Those months they will meet on a Tuesday. Mayor Keith Holcomb reported he averaged over 10,000 steps per day in the Blue Cross Mayor’s Walk Challenge which earned the city $1,000 from Blue Cross. He also reported on the DEQ Compliance Evaluation Inspection for their IPDES permit. There was just 1 minor violation and 1 concern listed on the report. In the reports Police Chief Terry Cochran reported they had a school lockdown drill that went well. He is looking, as in the past, to designate a sledding area for the youngsters up near the water towers. If they have a designated area maybe they can keep them from sliding down the side streets into King St. Debby O’Neill reported they pumped 2,328,400 gallons of water in November and sold 2,061,410 gallons for a loss of about 14%. She also reported the old water tower has lead based paint on the outside and that will be removed and repainted as part of the block grant for the water system. Brett Miller reported they replaced over 500 feet of sewer pipe on East St. with more yet to go. To go along with that, Kristie Holthaus’ street report was that East St. is all torn up for sewer line replacement. Linda Nida reported the pavilion at the city park is really taking shape now. They had a cleanup day on Sunday at the park. Also the hall work is progressing to address the flood damage. Holthaus reported the items of concern from the airport safety inspection have all been addressed. Nida reported the fire department responded to a ditch fire on Nov. 21. They also are looking a roof leak at the fire station. Mayor Holcomb suggested contacting the company that did the school roofing. There was nothing new on the St. John Bosco water and sewer agreement so it was tabled to next month. In other business Holthaus said she has received several calls about the corner at the top of the Keuterville Road grade past the ballfields. It always seems to be icy as it receives little in the way of sunshine due to the trees. She will share the concerns with Cottonwood Highway District as it is in their jurisdiction. She also reported Pat Enneking will meet with the Idaho Transportation Department on Monday about installing the crosswalk signs at East St. and the 95 Business Loop. The meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, January 8, at 7 p.m. |
