was close through the first 3 quarters but Kamiah’s Emma Krogh got hot
in the fourth quarter scoring 10 points as the Kubs pulled away after
leading by just 3 after 3 quarters.Prairie scored first as Lexi Schumacher scored a lay-up after Hailey Hanson had grabbed the opening tap. Kamiah then outscored Prairie 1-9 with Krogh scoring all 9 Kamiah points. Hanson made the second of 2 free throws for Prairie’s point. Prairie then closed the quarter on an 8-3 run to pull within 1 at 11-12. Lexi Schumacher scored 6 of Prairie’s 8 points on a basket, 3-pointer and free throw while Kylie Schumacher scored the other 2 points. Lexi Schumacher opened the second quarter with 2 free throws to give Prairie a 13-12 lead. That turned out to be Prairie’s final lead of the game. Kamiah got a 3-point play but Sydney Shears scored to tie it at 15-15. Kamiah scored a free throw and a basket but Kylie Schumacher answered with a basket. After a Kamiah 3-pointer, Kylie Schumacher made a free throw to make it 18-21. A Kamiah free throw was answered by 2 free throws by Lexi Schumacher. Kamiah scored for a 4-point lead. With 0.8 seconds left on the clock Prairie inbounded under their own basket. Hanson passed to Lexi Schumacher in the corner for a buzzer-beating 3 to make it 23-24 at the half. Kamiah came out and scored the first 7 points of the second half for a 23-31 lead. Hanson broke the dry spell with a pair of free throws at the 4:04 mark. Kamiah scored 2 baskets against 1 by Shears for a 27-34 lead. Erica Schlader then drover full-court for a lay-up and Sage Elven scored to pull the Pirates within 3 at the end of the third quarter, 31-34. Kamiah scored 5 straight to start the fourth quarter but Prairie answered with 5 straight, all by Lexi Schumacher to make it 36-39 with 4:35 to play. That’s when Krogh took over for Kamiah, personally outscoring Prairie 4-10 as she made 5 straight shots. That gave Kamiah a 40-49 lead with 53 seconds left. Elven then scored a free throw and a basket to cut the final margin to 6. Lexi Schumacher scored 20 to lead the Pirates in scoring. Elven scored 7, Shears 6, Kylie Schumacher 5, Hanson 3 and Schlader 2. Prairie had a 44-35 edge on the boards led by Elven who had 14 rebounds and Hanson who had 9. Lexi Schumacher had 2 steals and 4 assists while Hanson also had 4 assists. Prairie was 15 for 50 from the field, 30%, and 11 for 19 at the line, 58%. Kamiah was 18 for 57 from the field, 32%, and 10 for 19 at the line, 53%. In the JV game Prairie blew out the Kubs 53-14. Prairie shut out Kamiah in the first quarter as they outscored them 15-0. Nadia Cash and Halee Rowland scored 4 each in the quarter while Aubree Rehder scored 3. Erica Schlader and Ellie Nuxoll added 2 each. Cash and Rehder each added a basket to start the second quarter to make it 19-0. Kamiah finally scored at the 4:00 mark of the second quarter and wound up scoring 5 straight points. Kennedy Riener and Schlader each scored to make it 23-5. Kamiah added a free throw to make it 23-6 at the half. Prairie then scored the first 14 points of the second half. Cash started things with a 3-point play and Avery Riener then scored 5 straight points with a basket and 3 free throws. Schlader scored 2 free throws then Nuxoll and Cash each scored to make it 37-6. Kamiah scored with 36 seconds left in the quarter on a 3-pointer. Cash and Avery Riener then each scored a basket to make it 41-9 after 3 quarters. The entire fourth quarter was played with a running clock. Prairie still managed to outscore Kamiah 12-5 with Rowland scoring 8 of Prairie’s 12 points. Schlader and Kennedy Riener each added a basket. Cash wound up as the leading scorer with 13 points while Rowland scored 12. Schlader scored 8. A putback by Kylie Schumacher, back from illness, made it 19-2. With 2:37 left in the quarter, Potlatch scored their second basket. Prairie then closed out the quarter with 6 straight points. Hanson made a free throw, Lexi Schumacher another 3 and Kylie Schumacher a lay-up on an inbounds play. That made it 25-4 at the end of the quarter. Prairie then scored the first 16 points of the second quarter to complete a 22-0 run. Lexi Schumacher had 9 of the 16 points with a 3 and three 2’s. Hanson added a 3 and Elven and Kylie Schumacher each had a basket. Potlatch scored their only 2 points of the second quarter with 2:50 left and Prairie closed out the half with a 7-0 run.
