Sister Mary's Children still need your help One
of our greatest challenges at Sister Mary's Children is conveying to
you what your generosity means. How do your dollars impact? What is the
true need of the projects on the ground? Is growth of hope, education
and empowerment really happening? Pumeza Mqhayi is the Director of
Thembelihle Home. She is a certified teacher in mathematics and has
brought fantastic leadership to her post at the helm of Thembelihle
since taking the position in 2002. During her tenure, she has
implemented initiatives that have included bringing a certified teacher
to the Home’s school, securing funds to allow for the older children to
attend public school, expanding the home allowing for more space,
security and privacy and started a cooperative garden to allow for
income from the sales of produce to area grocery stores. Many of these
projects are made possible by your donations. We are in close contact
with Pumeza, but recently, she wrote to us wanting to convey her
gratitude to SMC Donors. Here is her letter. Dear SMC, Thank you to each and everyone of you who contributed towards helping the needy children accommodated at the Home. Thank you for restoring our hope and faith. Many NGOs are faced with a challenge of getting irregular subsidies and failure to get help from the National Lotteries Commission. We all pray for approval of our funding applications this year as we last received funding in 2018. This will help and make a big difference. I do not know what Thembelihle Home would be without the support we get from Sister Mary's Children. Maybe the home would have been closed by now just like the other NGOs. We do not underestimate the huge support we have been getting from you. It kept us going even during the worst times. Please convey our gratitude to all the SMC members and let them know that their support always brings us joy, relief, hope and faith. We will use the (recent) donation to buy food for the forty-six children in our care. We will also pay for repair costs of our one and only vehicle ( the 2005 Nissan Hardbody bakkie). It is giving us problems lately and we have to seek for services of a metre taxi when transporting children to school and clinic. Lastly but not least, thank you for the wonderful job you do for SMC. May God give you more strength so that you continue doing the great job that you do for the needy children in South Africa. Enkosi kakhulu (Thank you so much). With lots of love and gratitude, Pumeza Mqhayi To donate to SMC and support the projects you may go to:sistermaryschildren.orgORMail to: SMC, PO Box 809, McCall, ID 83638 Your generosity impacts the projects in many ways every day.
