To the Library and Beyond In addition to Regular Volunteers – Carissa Jones, Joan Brown and Colleen Wilson – we gratefully thank Molly Terhaar, Greg and Lydia Deiss, Mary Lorentz, Loretta Poxleitner, and Jim Rehder for all their expert help shelving those many, many books. Someone will be there working Monday through Friday by 10 AM until noon - till 3 PM on Mondays & Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays. “Volunteering helps us gain new and valuable skills and provides a sense of community.” June is Immigrant Heritage Month since 2004 “[to honor] immigrants and their positive impact on communities across the country, including the [many who contributed greatly] to the success of” our local area with their “histories and contributions to American History.” Next week we celebrate National Headache Awareness and Pet Appreciation. June 2 is National Cancer Survivors Day. June 3 is Love Conquers All Day. June 4 is National Old Maids Day. June 5 is World Environment Day. June 6 is the anniversary of the D-Day Invasion. June 7 is June Bug Day. June 8 is World Oceans Day and National Best Friends Day. In 2020 Prairie Community Library served 1,772 patrons and other friends. In 2022 we served 1,945 people, 543 of whom were children. The mission of Prairie Community Library is to continue developing the Library as a sustainable service to residents of the surrounding area, adapting to community needs as they arise.
