Prairie’s Homecoming game against Kamiah was a shootout with the Pirates’ rushing attack prevailing 50-38 over Kamiah’s passing game at Cottonwood Friday, Sept. 20. Dylan Uhlenkott gained 207 yards rushing on 22 attempts to lead the Pirates who rolled up 380 yards rushing on 58 attempts. Uhlenkott then ran in the 2-pointer for an 8-0 Prairie lead. Kamiah bounced back by converting a third and 6 from the Prairie 46 as Kludt completed the first of what would be 10 completions to Everett Oatman, who went 46 yards for a touchdown. Their 2 point pass attempt fell incomplete leaving Prairie with an 8-6 lead. Prairie came right back with a 6 play, 63 yard scoring drive. The big play on the drive was a 43 yard gain on an end around by Wemhoff on third and 2 that moved the ball to the Kamiah 12.Uhlenkott picked up 5 yards on a run that started right that he cut back to the left. McElroy then completed his first pass attempt of the game for 4 yards to Chris Schumacher. McElroy then ran the ball into the end zone from the 3. McElroy passed to Schumacher for the 2-pointer to make it 16-6. Prairie forced a punt on Kamiah’s next possession and took over at their own 37. The 2-point run came up short leaving Prairie with a 22-6 lead. On Kamiah’s next possession a pass interference penalty gave the Kubs a first down on fourth and 8. On third and 10 Wemhoff and Briggs Rambo combined to sack Kludt for an 8 yard loss which led to a Kamiah punt. Uhlenkott picked up 8 and McElroy then converted the first down with a 9 yard run that set up first and goal at the 2. Uhlenkott scored on a run up the middle on the next play. The 2-point pass attempt fell incomplete and it looked like Prairie might run away with the game as they now had a 28-6 lead. Kamiah was unable to move the ball on their next possession and a bad snap to new punter Oatman led to an 11 yard loss with Prairie taking over on the Kamiah 25. 2 penalties worth 15 yards led to a turnover on downs at the Kamiah 32.
