Pirates at 2 cross country meets
The Prairie Cross Country team hosted a meet on Wednesday, Sept. 25, and then traveled to Eagle Island State Park for a huge invitational meet on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Pirate Run
There were 4 schools competing at the Pirate Run with the Prairie boys edging Potlatch for the boys’ team title, 27 points to 28, and the girls winning the team title as they were the only school with enough runners to field a team.
Prairie had 4 top 10 finishers in the boys race with Phineas Fitch in 4th in 19:56.10, Chase VonBargen in 6th in 21:07.11, Matthew Jones in 8th in 22:18.37 and Kento Morita in 9th in 25:42.18. Landon Riener finished 14th tin 27:06.06, 2 spots ahead of Potlatch’s fifth finisher, to give Prairie the team score edge. Kade Hansen was 17th in 28:51.88. Gabe Decaria was 18th in 29:21.02. Onyx Lish was 19th in 30:08.08, nosing out Joe Shaw who was 20th, also in 30:08.08.
The girls team also had 4 top 10 finishers. Evelyn Gehring was 4th in 26:13.76. Ella McLeod was 6th in 26:50.93. Lillianne Lustig was 9th in 20:23.99. Reagan Brannan was 10th in 30:54.73. Bella Musick, in her first race of the season, was 13th in 39:48.75.
In the junior high race, Koyle Jones finished first for Prairie in 11:03.96.
In the girls junior high race Madalynn VonBargen placed 3rd in 14:41.60.
Bob Firman Invitational
There were over 5,000 runners entered in the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park near Eagle, Idaho. Coach Glenn Poxleitner said the temperature was 91 degrees when they competed.
Prairie competed in the JV races for schools with names starting with the letters M-Z.
The boys team finished in 23rd place out of 33 teams in their race. Fitch was the top finisher in 37th in 18:57.6. VonBargen was 141st in 20:45.7. Jones was 148th in 20:50.1. Morita was 293rd in 23:33.7. Lish was 368th in 26:43.2. Riener was 381st in 28:12.8. DeCaria was 389th in 29:12.2. Hansen was 395th in 31:18.2.
The girls only had 2 runners make it to the race. McLeod finished 112th in 26:27.3 while Gehring was right behind in 114th in 26:31.8.

Phineas Fitch and Evelyn Gehring were Prairie's top high school finishers at the Pirate Run. Each finished 4th in their respective races.

Chase VonBargen, Matthew Jones and Kento Morita all finished in the top 10 at the Pirate Run. Chase was 6th, Matthew 8th and Kento 9th.

Kade Hansen finished the Pirate Run in 17th place and minus one shoe. Joe Shaw found Kade's missing shoe and finished in 20th in almost a tie with Onyx Lish, right, who finished 19th.

Bella Musick ran her first race at the Pirate Run and finished in 13th place.

Due to low numbers, they rean the boys and girls junior high races together. Shown are Koyle Jones and Madalyn VonBargen, who placed 3rd in the girls race.
