Lady Patriots win 2 of 3
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots won 2 of 3 games last week. On Tuesday, Dec. 3 they routed Timberline 47-12 at Cottonwood. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, they edged the Clarkston JV 48-47. Finally on Thursday, Dec. 5, they lost at Nezperce 29-32.
Vs. Timberline
Bosco never trailed against Timberline as Noelle Chmelik scored on an inbounds play for the first points of the game and then added a lay-up after a steal by Sarah Waters. Julia Wassmuth goes for a lay-up against Timberline.
Timberline scored at the 2:40 mark of the first quarter and then Julia Wassmuth finished off a low-scoring first quarter with a drive to the hoop to make it 6-2.
Catherine Seubert opened the second quarter scoring with a putback. Timberline then scored at the 5:52 mark and then went scoreless the rest of the half.
Meanwhile Wassmuth scored a putback, Savannah Perrin scored a lay-up and Wassmuth end the half with a steal and drive for a lay-up as Bosco took a 14-4 halftime lead.
Bosco scored the first 14 points of the second half to build a commanding 28-4 lead. Presley Schoo scored to open the half. Waters followed with a pair of baskets. Wassmuth scored on a drive, then Sebert scored. Rachel Sonnen scored on an inbounds play and Wassmuth capped the 14-0 run with another steal and drive for a lay-up.
Timberline finally scored at the 3:28 mark. Wassmuth then scored after a steal by Seubert and then added another drive for a lay-up to make it 32-6. Timberline scored a pair of free throws to end the third quarter.
The Spartans scored the first 3 points of the fourth quarter then Bosco reeled off 15 straight points. Chmelik started the run with a 3-point play. Waters and Seubert each scored a free throw. Waters scored 2 more baskets then Miah Mager chipped in with a pair of baskets. Wassmuth closed ou the 15-0 run with a basket to make it 47-11.
Timberline scored the final point of the game at the free throw line.
Wassmuth wound up with 16 points to lead the Patriots. Waters scored 9, Chmalek 7, Seubert 5, Mager 4 and Schoo, Perrin and Sonnen 2 each.
Bosco controlled the boards 52-22. Wassmuth, Waters and Seubert each had 8 rebounds to lead the team.
Waters had 9 steals while Wassmuth had 8. Wassmuth had 4 assists while Perrin had 3.
The Patriots were 22 for 76 from the field, 29%, and 3 for 5 at the line, 60%. Timberline was 4 for 20 from the field, 20%, and 4 for 8 at the line, 50%.
Bosco also won the JV game 24-10.
Bosco started the game 6-0 and after a Timberline baskets scored 8 more to make it 14-2. CeCe Remacle scored the first basket and Mager scored the next 2. After the Timberline score, Madeline Wassmuth scored a basket then Remacle scored a pair of baskets and Wassmuth added another to close out the run.

Timberline scored to open the second quarter then Mager and Remacle each scored. After another Timberline basket, Mager and Brianne Nuxoll each scored to close out the 2-quarter game.
Remacle had 10 points to lead the JV’s while Mager scored 8. Wassmuth scored 4 and Nuxoll 2.
Bosco had a 20-9 edge on the boards led by Mager with 6. Remacle had 4 steals and 2 assists while Wassmuth also had 2 assists.
The JV’s were 12 for 30 from the field, 40%, and Timberline was 5 for 16, 31%. Neither team attempted a free throw.

Vs. Clarkston JV
In the game against the Clarkston JV, the Lady Patriots led by as many as 10 points but had to hold on for a 1-point win at the finish.

Also shown is Catherine Beckman.choo got the scoring started with a basket and then Chmelik stole the ball and scored for a 4-0 lead. Clarkston converted a 3-point play then Seubert scored the first 2 of her game and career-high 20 points.  Clarkston tied it with a 3-pointer but a steal by Waters led to another basket by Seubert.
Clarkston tied it again but a basket by Waters on an inbounds play and a buzzer-beating 3 by Julia Wassmuth gave Bosco a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter Bosco built a 19-13 lead as Mager, Seubert and Wassmuth each scored a basket. Clarkston then responded with 6 straight points to tie it at 19-19. However Bosco scored the final 6 points of the half on two baskets by Seubert and a drive to the hoop for a lay-up by Wassmuth for a 25-19 halftime lead.
Seubert scored a putback to open the second half and Wassmuth added a full-court drive for a lay-up for a 29-19 lead, Bosco’s biggest of the game.
Clarkston then went on a 6-15 run to whittle that lead down to just 1 point at 35-34 with 3:08 left in the quarter.
Bosco then closed out the third quarter with a 6-0 run. Waters scored from 16 feet then Remacle sank a 3-pointer. Wassmuth added a free throw for a 41-34 lead after 3 quarters.
After a driving lay-up by Chmelik and a free throw by Perrin, Bosco still ed by 6 at 44-38. Clarkston then scored 5 straight to pull within 1 with 1:16 to play.
Seubert and Wassmuth both scored to put Bosco back up by 5 at 48-43 with 38 seconds left.
Clarkston scored a basket with 26 seconds to play and then had the ball in the final seconds. They missed a 3-point shot to win it and then got a rebound and put up what they thought was another 3-point shot that went in at the buzzer. The referees called it a 2 and Bosco had held on for the win.
Seubert had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team in both categories. Wassmuth was also in double figures with 10 points. Chmelik and Waters scored 4 each with Remacle scoring 3, Mager and Schoo 2 each and Perrin 1.
Bosco had a 48-41 edge on the boards.
Wassmuth had 5 steals and 5 assists.
Bosco was 21 for 58 from the field, 36%, and 2 for 11 at the line, 18%. Clarkston was 20 for 71  from the field, 28%, and 4 for 7 at the line, 57%.
Bosco dominated the JV game, winning a two quarter game 26-2.
Bosco scored the first 10 points of the game and the last 16.
Nuxoll got it started with a putback. Catherine Beckman followed with a basket. Mager scored a pair of baskets and Madeline Wassmuth scored a basket for a 10-0 lead. After Clarkston scored their only 2 points, Mager and Nuxoll each scored to make it 14-2 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter Remacle got hot as she hit 4 of 5 shots. She scored the first 6 points of the quarter. Schoo scored a basket then Remacle scored another. Wassmuth scored the final 2 points of the game.
Remacle scored 8 to lead the team with Mager scoring 6, Nuxoll and Wassmuth 4 each and Shoo and Beckman 2 each.
The JV’s had a 23-16 edge on the boards led by Nuxoll and Rachel Sonnen with 5 each.
Remacle had 6 steals and 4 assists.
The JVs were 13 for 35 from the field, 37%, and 0 for 6 at the line. The Clarkston frosh were 1 for 13 from the field, 8%, and did not attempt a free throw.

at Nezperce
It was a close game at Nezperce with the Nighthawks pulling out the win in the final seconds.
Bosco led 8-7 after the first quarter but Nezperce led 14-18 at the half. They led 20-26 after 3 quarters.
The Patriots rallied to take a 29-28 lead late in the game on a free throw by Wassmuth with 49 seconds left.
Nezperce won the game by hitting 4 free throws in the final seconds.
Wassmuth led the Patriots with 15 points while Seubert scored 8, Remacle 4 and Waters 2.
The Patriots are now 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in league play.
Nezperce also won the two quarter JV game 14-22.

Patriot boys lose twice
The St. John Bosco Patriots opened their season with a 42-60 loss to Timberline at Cottonwood on Tuesday, Dec. 3. On Thursday, Dec. 5 they traveled to Nezperce and lost 51-64.

Vs. Timberline
Bosco had a solid first quarter against Timberline and then things went the Spartans way. Connor Nuxoll looks to shoot against Timberline.
Timberline scored first but Bosco took the lead as Tommy Rose scored a pair of baskets. Timberline took back the lead with 5 straight points but Bosco answered with a basket by Nathan Wassmtuh, a lay-up by Cody Weckman, 2 free throws by Rose and another backet by Wassmuth that gave them a 12-7 lead.
A 3 by Timberline cut the lead to 12-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Timberline then scored the first 8 points of the second quarter to take the lead for good. Wassmuth scored to break the drought but Timberline then scored 6 more before Henry Baldwin scored a free throw. Weckman scored a pair of baskets in the final minute but Timberline scored 5 points to take a 19-29 lead at the half.
In the third quarter Timberline scored 3 baskets and 5 free throws, however all 3 baskets were 3 pointers. The Patriots scored 4 baskets and 3 free throws but all their baskets were 2-pointers. Three of those were by Wassmuth with Connor Nuxoll scoring the other basket.
Timberline led 30-43 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Spartans scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter as Weckman scored Bosco’s first points of the quarter at the 3:19 mark. Bosco outscored Timberline 12-7 over final 3:20 of the game. Weckman added a pair of baskets while Rose scored a free throw and a basket, Wassmuth scored a basket and Nuxoll a free throw.
Wassmuth led the Patriots in scoring with 14 points while Weckman added 13. Rose scored 9 with Nuxoll scoring 4. Baldwin and Wyatt Crea scored 1 each.
Timberline had a 32-47 edge on the boards. Wassmuth had 11 rebounds and Nuxoll 7 to lead the Patriots.
Weckman had 3 steals and 4 assists.
The Patriots were 17 for 50 from the field, 34%,and 8 for 20 at the line, 40%. Timberline was 21 for 60 from the field, 35%, and 12 for 16 at the line, 75%.
Timberline also won the two quarter JV game 10-37.
Bosco trailed 4-16 after the first quarter with Wyatt Crea and Pierce Frei each scoring a basket.
Timberline had scoring runs of 10 and 7 points in the second quarter. Simon Hagen scored a free throw for Bosco at the 7:15 mark and then next points came from Crea on a baseline drive at the 4:08 mark. Ignatius Parmentier followed with 2 free throws and added another free throw a minute later.
Crea wound up the leading scorer with 4 points while Parmentier scored 3, Frei 2 and Hagen 1.
Timberline dominated the boards 12-41. Crea led the Patriots with 4 rebounds.
Hagen had 3 steals and Crea and Frei each had 1 assist.
The JVs were 3 for 28 from the field, 11%, and 4 for 6 at the line, 67%. Timberline was 15 for 40 from the field, 38% and 4 for 10 at the line, 40%.

At Nezperce
In their game at Nezperce, Bosco again kept it close through the first quarter but saw Nezperce pull away in the second and third quarters.
Bosco trailed just 14-15 at the end of the first quarter but Nezperce led 24-33 at the half.
The Nighthawks outscored the Patriots by 11 in the third quarter as they took a 33-53 lead into the fourth.
The Patriots tried to rally back in the fourth but had too deep a hole to climb out of although they outscored Nezperce 18-11 in the final frame.
Wassmuth was again the leading scorer with 14 and Weckman again sored 13. Rose scored 8 while Crea and Nuxoll scored 5 each and Baldwin, Hagen and Parmentier added 2 points each.
The Patriots are now 0-2 on the season and in league play.
The JVs lost 23-54.

10 turn out for Patriot boys basketball
The St. John Bosco Patriots have 10 boys out for basketball this season.
There are no seniors on the team with only two juniors. Those juniors are Tommy Rose and Connor Nuxoll.
There are 4 sophomores: Simon Hagen, Henry Baldwin, Nathan Wassmuth and Cody Weckman.
Out of those 6 players, Wassmuth, Weckman, Rose and Nuxoll all started at least some games last season.
There are also 4 freshmen on the team: Pierce Frei, Wyatt Crea, Ignatius Parmentier and Zachary Murdock.
Alex Frei returns as head coach with Kim Frei and Lane Wassmuth both returning as assistant coaches.
There are a couple of changes to the league this year as Kendrick has moved up to the 2A level while Genesee has dropped down to 1A. The C.V. boys have also made a successful petition to drop down to 1A for basketball.
Despite that Deary is probably the league favorite.
