Wrestlers compete at two meets The Prairie wrestling team competed at two meets this past week. On Wednesday, Jan. 8, they were at the Lapwai duals. On Friday , Jan. 10, they were at the Andrew Beck Memorial Tournament at Grangeville. Prairie had the same 4 wrestlers at each meet. At Lapwai they each wrestled twice. Zachary Schumacher lost twice. Ashton Martin also lost twice. Avery Schacher won once and lost once. Jake Quintal also won once and lost. The Pirates had a tough meet at the Andrew Beck Memorial as nobody won even one match. The event was a scramble format. Zachary Schumacher wrestled 4 different opponents and lost each by pin. He wrestled Jase McKnight of Lewiston and lost by pin in 1:37. He wrestled Jacob Vale of Lewiston and lost by pin in 1:51. He wrestled Louis Sutton of Lewiston and lost by pin in 1:54. Finally he wrestled Riley Johnson and lost by pin in 20 seconds. Ashton Martin wrestled 3 different opponents and lost all 3 by pin. He lost in 50 seconds to Hunter Brown of Lewiston. He lost in 1:12 to Cameron Lamphere of Lewiston. Finally he lost in 1:13 to Tyler Wolff of Lewiston. Avery Schacher faced 2 opponents and lost both by pin. She lost to Ciel Sattler of Lapwai in 3:43. She lost to Draven Wolf of Lewiston in 2:18. Jake Quintal wrestled 4 opponents and lost 3 by pin and 1 by technical fall. He lost in 2:31 to Landynn Lynch of Lewiston. He lost 8-23 to Phoenix Jansen of Lewiston. He lost by pin to Carter Blankenship of Lewiston. Finally he lost by pin to Parker Farmer of Grangeville in 19 seconds. This week Prairie will be at the Clearwater Classic at Lewiston on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18  Avery Schacher works over an opponent at the Lapwai duals.  Jake Quintal takes control against an Asotin wrestler at Lapwai.  Ashton Martin is up against a Pomeroy wrestler at Lapwai.  Zach Schumacher at the Lapwai meet.
