During
our recent heavy snow it was discovered that multiple fire hydrants
were buried in snow and not easily accessible by Cottonwood Fire
Department. A request for assistance in shoveling out the hydrants was
put out through social media. Within hours multiple youth, and
families, went out and began removing snow from the hydrants to assist
the fire department. On Monday, February 19, several of the youth
were recognized for their efforts. Donations from Cottonwood Fire
Department, Cottonwood Police Department, St Marys EMS and the Idaho
County Coroner made it possible for each youth to receive a cash
reward for volunteering their time and assisting with shoveling snow.
The youth also had the opportunity to see the Fire Station and have a
photo taken with Chief Greg Danly. Pictured are Vince and Forrest
Poxleitner, Halsey Rowland, Brynlie Lockett, Charlee Key and
Cottonwood Fire Chief Greg Danly. Not shown is Taylor, Avery,
Kennedy and Tenley Riener, Cooper Lockett and Eli Arnzen. Cottonwood
Fire Department and the City of Cottonwood would like to thank the
efforts of these youth. Their efforts and desire to help their
community is commendable! Photo submitted by Terry Cochran. Click on
