Fit and Fall Proof volunteers attended a training session at the Cottonwood Community Hall on Wednesday, April 10. Kathryn
Wilson, LPN Health Educator, Sr. Fit and Fall Proof coordinator Public
Health-Idaho North Central District organized the event and presented
certificates to the attendees. Cottonwood
volunteers receiving certificates were Linda Arnzen, Mary Funke, Sue
Crea and Zelda Henderson. Kim Ingraham, FFP Core Master Trainer
explained the benefits of techniques to be used in classes as well as
safe alternatives. Caitlin Rusche, MS, MA, Health Education Specialist explained medication overdose prevention and response. Developed
in Idaho in 2004 Fit and Fall Proof is an exercise-based fall
prevention program for older adults in Idaho that focuses on improving
strength, mobility and balance to reduce an older adults’ risk of

Lydia Deiss did a presentation
for Julie Schumacher’s third grade class last week on growing up in
Holland and the tribulations her family went through in moving to the
United States. She also share some traditional Dutch food with the
students. Mrs. Schumacher said she does this presentation for her
