The Prairie Pirates split a pair of games this past week. On Tuesday, Feb. 4 they hosted Orofino and won 46-29. On Friday, Feb. 7, they traveled to Kendrick and lost a league game 31-58. . . .

Lady Pirates win first two District games
The Prairie Lady Pirates won their first two games of the District Tournament. On Wednesday, Feb. 5, they defeated Logos 60-14 at Cottonwood. On Saturday, Feb. 8, they defeated Kendrick 55-41 at Lewiston High School. They played Lapwai for the District Championship for the 12th straight yearon Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Lewiston High School and won 68-49. Highland ends Lady Patriots' season
The St. John Bosco girls team won 1 of 2 games last week. Unfortunately the loss ended their season. On Thursday, Feb. 6, they held Senior Night against the Clarkston JV and won, 52-34. On Saturday they played Highland at Craigmont in a loser-out District game and lost 41-53. . . .

The Prairie Lady Pirates were presented the league championship trophy prior to their District game against Kendrick on Saturday. Pictured from left are Reagan Brannan, Mia Anderson, Sage Elven, Hailey Hanson, Lexi Schumacher, Ellie Nuxoll, Kadence Kalmbach, Aubree Rehder, Kylie Schumacher, Nadia Cash, Erica Schlader and Sydney Shears. The girls team also won the District Championship, their first since 2012, by beating Lapwai 68-49 Wednesday, Feb. 12. It appears that they will be the #2 seed into the state tournament and will play at 2 p.m. MST next Thursday, Feb. 20 at Columbia High School in Nampa. Details on that game in next week's update. Prairie recently installed a new possession arrow on the scoring table at the high school gym. This replaces the metal one first built by Jerry Richardson back when the rule changed from actually having jump balls to alternating possessions.
